Prepare for Class
To prepare for your yoga sessions, please attend on an empty stomach.
As we will be twisting and bending forward, an empty belly is a must. Keep from eating 2 hours prior to practice. Keeping away from sugar and caffeine is highly encouraged.
Be conscious of how you are breathing and if you feel congested. Take time to release any congestion through either a neti pot or a natural means before attending. If you are not sure how, please contact us at 954-434-3377 or info@harmonyhouseyoga.com.
Breath is life. Breathe life in.
Please bring a clean but unscented body to your yoga practice. Clean skin is divine where perfumed skin may be distracting.
Please leave all jewelry at home.
Turn your cell phone off or preferably leave it outside of the studio.
Let us know if you have any physical issues that would limit your movement or any medical condition that would need addressing in your practice.
Upon entering, please remove your shoes and bring yourself into a silent space where you can completely empty your mind. So much of your practice is created by the energy you hold or choose to let go of at the beginning of your practice. It is good for you and all around you so create an intention for your practice and silently focus on your breath.
Above all, it is always positive to remember that your yoga practice is not about attaining that perfect split or headstand, rather that perfect state of balance where you find yourself in your greatest peace. It is not what you acquire but what you let go of in your practice that creates that difference.

Vinyasa

Vinyasa translates to “without obstacle.” This practice links postures with breath in a seamless sequence of movement. Light, freeing, fun and fulfilling – this practice is truly about going with the flow.
”Vinyasa has two components, sequencing and rhythm. A posture is a timeless understanding that we arrive at physically, mentally and emotionally. The art of sequencing is the ability to communicate through the medium of these experiences. The proper juxtapositions of the two postures “we do this then we do this,” explains them both. The experience of the second posture redefines the first and the experience of the first posture makes possible our understanding of the second posture.
Vinyasa is teaching and learning through a series of juxtapositions. One moment grasped holistically, deeply, reinvented as it is experienced in relation to the moment that came before it and the moment that comes after it. Time, knowledge and duality are deconstructed.
Vinyasa is an experiential language (a way that yoga teachers communicate to their students.)
The other aspect of Vinyasa is rhythm. Not only are you flowing from one experience to the next, but the pacing with which you do so, moving to the steady rhythm of breath, quiets the mind creating the possibility of moving from one moment to the next in a state of seamless concentration. Rhythm, like Asana, is timeless. We experience rhythm and asana at a level of our being which exists outside of time. Vinyasa is what happens when we combine rhythm and Asana.”

"Private sessions have helped to move my practice to a higher level. I feel free to ask questions along the broad spectrum of yoga practice from the physical poses/asanas to the more spiritual aspects that are also an integral part of the yoga experience. The answers to my questions and some of the wonderful discussions that have followed, have helped to provide a deeper awareness of myself, and how the practice of yoga can truly transform how we view ourselves and what surrounds us. It all begins to come together with regard to breathing, focus and energy flow as we each embrace this journey of our body, mind and spirit. Although during group class, you amaze me with your ever vigilant eye and your ability to meet the needs of each student, during a private session, this is enhanced even more as you are able to target in on so many specifics. More time can be spent with a challenging pose, almost dissecting it, demystifying it, and discovering ways to embrace the challenge to achieve maximum benefit. This totally changes one's approach from that moment forward, and I find that, at those times, I feel more open to trying a pose that I might choose to omit from my group practice. I always leave Harmony House Yoga feeling uplifted and peaceful, but after a private session I feel enlightened and more confident in my personal yoga journey."
- In gratitude and harmony, Janet, Cooper City

Yoga Parties
Yoga parties are a fun, fulfilling and wonderful way to encourage friends and family to begin a healthy practice that can change their lives. Celebrate a birthday, new home or just to celebrate life.
We will discuss ideas on how to bring Harmony to your party beforehand, then just prepare to enjoy a party that people will glow about for a while. Yoga parties are a joyful way to celebrate yourself or a friend. They are always remembered.
Darlene came to my house for a house blessing yoga party. It was a very positive experience for myself and my guests, many of whom had never done yoga and were slightly intimidated by it. Darlene was able to handle the range of experience and ages in the group and adjusted the session accordingly. By the time we were done, the house was charged with lots of laughter and positive happy energy. Afterwards we all relaxed around and enjoyed the afterglow of our happy yoga session. The energy of that session is still palpable today in my house. I think it was the best way for my husband and I to enter into our new home.
- Jeanette, Plantation
Darlene has opened my eyes to a new world of peace and awareness that I never knew I could embrace and enjoy as much as I do. Darlene has touched every member of my family and has improved the quality of our lives tremendously. Yoga has been a huge factor in my daughter’s success with controlling her ADHD and tics. My daughter embraces yoga and loves the challenge. Darlene hosted her 8th birthday party recently and all of the girls who attended absolutely loved the experience. Darlene acquired quite a few new little fans as well! I have found that attending Darlene’s classes are the most enjoyable ways to exercise, relax, connect with your body and challenge your limits.
We all need a little harmony in our lives!
